Chuckanut Bay

Setting sun as to put the world asleep
Last of the golden light
Slowly fading behind the islands
Dark coal blanket the pinhole sky
Just enough to let some of the light
Reveal the San Juans out across her lap

Mother, I called out to her
Nature snuggles gently to her bosoms
All that is pure in her woods tonight

Answering back a rising lunar sphere
Outline a doe and fawn
absent of daylight colors
Orcas enchant as sirens of the deep

Feeling safe in her arms
She comforts me
Drifting off in my own repose

Wakening by a familiar bald eagle
Acting as a sentry
In the morning twilight

Miles of plush velvet clouds
Laid out across the bay
high up
In solitude
Chuckanut Mountain

Hi Shadow, It's one of my favorite places on earth. Now I live so many miles from there.

A long, long time ago, picking huckleberries on the mountain. I had run across an old Indian that would teach me the ways of the medicine wheel.

He was kind of my spirit guide of the paths of the Indian way, I was twenty then...

Hi George,

I've been AWOL for awhile. I moved a couple of weeks ago and I haven't quite gotten situated yet. No time for computer fun. DRAT! I found a little spare time (at work no less) and thought I would check your blog. Your poetry and your photos are so peaceful and relaxing. Love 'em. Just dropped in to say HI!

Oh,,, welcome back, Clydean..

I hate moving, but it does sound like you are starting to get settled.

I can't wait for some more of your fantastic photos.

We are still living out of some of our boxes since the move, embarrassing as that is, we are going on two years...

hiya! i've done 15 jumps and i must say that the fear and total exhilarations hasn't left... yet i'd do it again without thinking...

Shadow, that really sounds like a rush, would have to be like no other.

Two of my kids had done it, my son a adrenalin junkie, had about a dozen times. My daughter has done it twice...

You will have to shoot some pics. and post them the next time...

George, you're awesome. This is a beautiful poem that is so peaceful. It really describes how I felt today. I saw a bald eagle sitting on a tree outside my window and wanted to embrace the entire day.

Your poem paints a picture of a beautiful place. I love your picture, too! Wonderful images.

Julie, your wonderful visit really means a lot.

I'd had seen bald eagles and so many of the other God's creatures throughout my life, I've had to remind myself not to take it all for granted.

Thanks for the visit...

K, that is such a compliment, I try to whisk the reader off to places other than where there at, even for only a moment...

I like the sentry eagle and the plush velevet clouds....

I use to have a secret huckleberry patch there, then to make the day of it, sometimes to watch the whales.

After a bit you get to recognize the different pods...

Thanks for the visit Juliet, and your response...

George,

Thanks for visiting our little town of Crisfield. I appreciate your comments.

Your words and photos are marvelous. I see Noelle visits here. She is a great writer, too.

Your area is another perfect place for creatively and inspiration.
Like Crisfield, there is eye-candy everywhere.

I look forward to visiting your blog, enjoying your visions and thoughts about life way over there on the West Coast.

Here is my little secret: I am so jealous of you writers. All you need is pen and paper. I sometimes feel like a pack mule.

Hi, George-it's funny we haven't linked up before as we run pretty much with the same crowd. I stop by your site every so often to see what's new. I really like your stuff. Very peaceful with a nice flow. I've a booklet several inches thick with just nature themes. It's all I used to write and still my favorite. I keep a very low profile as I feel my paltry offerings really have no place next to the fine writers I read, so thanks for dropping by and your kind words. ~Rick

Thank you Linda, for the validation.

You had been so kind to me from the very beginning of my very much reluctant start in blogging. Or I wouldn't be here today.

I sense a good spirit from Rick and he has a poetic charisma...
